Man Arrested After Posting Pictures of Pot Plants, Threatening Deputy on Facebook

SAWYER COUNTY -- A 52-year-old man was taken into custody by authorities following a search warrant at a residence regarding the posting of pictures marijuana plants and wanting to have a 'physical altercation' with a Sawyer County Deputy, according to a press release from Sawyer County Sheriff Douglas Mrotek.

(Press Release) -- On 09/21/18 at about 1:36 p.m., Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, assisted by the Sawyer County SWAT Team and the Wisconsin State Patrol, executed a search warrant at a residence located on Klinger Road in the Town of Wiergor in Sawyer County.  The search warrant was obtained after a 52-year-old male suspect, identified as John Matthew Beck who lives at the residence, posted pictures of two marijuana plants and posts about wanting to have a physical altercation with a Sawyer County Deputy, on Facebook.   As a result of the search warrant, Mr. Beck was taken into custody for Felony Manufacture of THC, Felony Bail Jumping, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Misdemeanor Unlawful Use of Computerized Communication Systems.

A previous search warrant was executed on the same residence on 09/14/18.   During the execution of the 09/14/18 search warrant, 13 marijuana plants and drug paraphernalia were located and seized from the residence.  As a result of the search warrant on 09/14/18, Mr. Beck was taken into custody on 09/14/18 for Felony Manufacturing of THC and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Mr. Beck was subsequently released on a $5000 signature bond for the 09/14/18 charges.
