Man Arrested For Operating A Vehicle With A Restricted Controlled Substance, 5th Offense

RUSK COUNTY — A 57-year-old man has been arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a restricted controlled substance 5th offense, possession of illegal narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia, following a traffic stop near Ladysmith, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Gary A. Hedrington, 57 years of age, from Chippewa Falls, WI has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Spooner Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 5th offense.

On 12-31-20, at approximately 8:10 p.m., a WI State Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle for having a defective headlamp on Highway 27 near the City of Ladysmith. The driver was identified as Gary A. Hedrington and showed signs of impairment.

A subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety testing, showed that Mr. Hedrington was operating a motor vehicle while impaired with this being his 5th offense.

Mr. Hedrington was arrested and transported to a local hospital for an evidentiary chemical test of his blood and then to the Rusk County Jail.

He is being charged with operating a motor vehicle with a restricted controlled substance 5th offense, possession of illegal narcotics, and possession of drug paraphrenalia.

"Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty."
