BURNETT COUNTY -- A man crashed his vehicle after fleeing law enforcement when they attempted to stop him for a simple equipment violation. The driver allegedly fled at speeds reaching reaching nearly 100mph before crashing, according to a news release from the St. Croix Tribal Police Department.
(News Release) -- On the early morning of December 8th Investigator Jerdee and Officer Yang attempted to stop a vehicle in the Hertel area for an equipment violation.
The vehicle then fled at speeds up to 94 mph on County Road X. The vehicle continued on County Round X before crashing near Gaslyn Road.
James Lightfeather was the driver and Danielle Pardun was the passenger.
They were both transported to the Burnett Medical Center and were medically checked then taken to the Burnett Jail.
James Lightfeather told Officers on scene that he had recently smoked methamphetamine.
Pipes with plant material and white crystal powder was found on James that field tested positive for methamphetamine and THC.
Danielle told Officers that they did not want to go to jail for arrest warrants they both had.
James was booked at the jail with the following charges:
- Knowingly fleeing an officer
- Reckless driving
- Operating after revocation
- Probation violation
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Possession of THC
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Imprudent speed
