WASHBURN COUNTY -- An allegation of child sexual assault in Washburn County has led to a felony charge against a Nevada man. The Washburn County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the case on December 9, 2024, after receiving information that Francis Dale, 61, now of Las Vegas, sexually assaulted a child in Washburn County around 20 years earlier.

A criminal complaint filed against Dale states that law enforcement’s investigation confirmed his presence in Washburn County when the assault occurred, and Dale allegedly admitted to having contact with the victim, who was under the age of 13 at the time.

Dale, who has denied the allegations against him, is charged with First-Degree Sexual Assault of a Child, a Class B felony. He is scheduled to make an initial court appearance on April 27, 2026.
