(Release) On November 23, 2016 at about 11:37 p.m. Sawyer County Sheriff's Office Deputies, assisted by the City of Hayward Police Department, Sawyer County Ambulance EMTs and a Paramedic, the City of Hayward Fire Department and the Town of Hayward Fire Department, responded to a single vehicle crash on State Highway 77 near Eaton Road in the Town of Lenroot. The lone occupant of the vehicle, the 21 year old male operator, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle had been proceeding eastbound on STH 77 at a high rate of speed when the operator apparently lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway into a wooded area. The vehicle sustained extensive damage. The operator was found deceased. The crash remains under investigation by the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
Out of respect to his family, the name of the male operator is not being released at this time.
