BURNETT COUNTY -- The Court has sentenced Douglas Murphy, Jr., on charges stemming from a 2021 shooting incident in Burnett County.

Murphy was arrested and later charged after the Grantsburg Police Department responded to a report of shots fired. Following the incident, the Grantsburg Police Department was granted a search warrant that the Burnett County Emergency Response Team executed in conjunction with the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office.

A press release stated that there were no apparent injuries from the incident.

Charges of Class G Felony 2nd-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct, Misdemeanor Endanger Safety/Use/Dangerous Weapon, Misdemeanor Possession of THC, and Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia were filed against Murphy in Burnett County Circuit Court.

Murphy appeared most recently on June 6 regarding his criminal charges in Burnett County. The Hon. John Anderson accepted Murphy’s plea of guilty to his charge of Misdemeanor Possession of THC. Online court records indicate that the remainder of Murphy's charges were dismissed but read in as part of the case settlement agreement between parties.

Judge Anderson ordered Murphy to pay $453 in costs and fine, and online court records show that has been paid.
