Man Sentenced On Drug Convictions; Ordered To Have No Contact With Burnett Co.

BURNETT COUNTY -- Christopher Paulson, of North Branch, MN, was recently sentenced in Burnett County Circuit Court on drug related charges stemming from an incident in November 2018 when Law Enforcement responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in Trade Lake Township and found Paulson unconscious inside the vehicle.

DrydenWire.com reported that Law Enforcement seized meth, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and packaging material from the vehicle, according to a news release from the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office.

Paulson was charged with Class D Felony Possess w/ Intent-Amphetamine(>10-50g), Class I Felony Possess w/Intent-THC (<=200 grams), Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Class I Felony Possession of THC (2nd+ Offense), and Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia and online circuit court records show that he he was sentenced at a recent hearing.

The Court ordered a 4 year sentence on Paulson’s convictions for Class I Felony Possess w/Intent-THC (<=200 grams), Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine. His other charges were dismissed but read in.

Paulson will serve 18 months initial confinement, with credit for 37 days served, to be followed by 2 years and 6 months of extended supervision. The Court ordered Paulson to undergo a mental health evaluation and follow through with any programming or recommendations of the Department of Corrections. Conditions of Paulson’s extended supervision will prohibit him from having any contact with Burnett County for any reasons other than court-related purposes. Paulson will be required to maintain absolute sobriety and be restricted from any establishment whose primary purpose is the sale of alcohol.

Cash bond previously posted for Paulson in the amount of $2,500.00 was applied to costs and fees owed by Paulson. The Court granted Paulson until February 14, 2020 to report for his term of incarceration.
