Mary Hoeft's Statement on Trump Protests Across the Country

Mary Hoeft took to Facebook this morning to share her message regarding thousands of anti-Trump protesters that took to the streets in U.S. cities.

Friends,

Last night, Americans took to the streets, speaking out against a man who openly and freely expressed anti-Muslim, anti-Woman, anti-Mexican, anti-Gay, anti-Physically Challenged sentiments-- and the list goes on and on.

I am honored that these men and women took to the streets to say "This is NOT the America we are. We are so much more than the hateful ideology espoused by Donald Trump."

Take the time you need to grieve. Then, ACT. Do something that makes a LOUD statement. Show the world, through your actions, that we do not share the values espoused by our newly elected President.

Volunteer at a Women's Shelter. Host a family from Syria. Teach English to a member of the Somali Community. Write a letter to your newspaper's Sound Off Column. Run for office.

Show the world that we are not Americans who support the hateful ideas expressed by our newly elected President. We are BETTER than him.
