ST. CROIX FALLS, WI — Mayor Kirk Anderson announced that he will not be seeking re-election in 2026, concluding nearly eight years of service in St. Croix Falls city government, including six years as Mayor and two years on the City Council.
“It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve the people of St. Croix Falls,” Anderson said. “I am deeply grateful to our residents, local businesses, city staff, and my colleagues on the Common Council for their trust, collaboration, and dedication to this community.”
During his tenure, Mayor Anderson worked alongside the Common Council and city staff on numerous initiatives aimed at strengthening city services, supporting local businesses, and investing in the long-term health and vitality of St. Croix Falls.
As part of today’s announcement, Anderson also formally endorsed District 2 City Councilwoman Shannon Donaghue in her campaign to become the next Mayor of St. Croix Falls in the April 2026 election.
“Councilwoman Donaghue has been a strong and trusted partner throughout my time as Mayor,” Anderson said. “I have full confidence in her leadership, her integrity, and her commitment to the future of St. Croix Falls. I am proud to support her candidacy.”
Mayor Anderson emphasized that his focus remains on completing key city projects and continuing to serve the community through the remainder of his term.
“We still have important work ahead,” Anderson said. “I will continue to serve as Mayor through the April election and transition, working every day to move our city forward and to ensure a smooth and positive transition for the next Mayor.”
Anderson added that he looks forward to supporting the incoming Mayor and maintaining continuity in city leadership.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and for the trust the community has placed in me,” he said. “St. Croix Falls is a special place, and I remain committed to its success.”
