SPOONER, WI — Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District, Michael Alfonso, will be the featured guest on DrydenWire Live! with Ben Dryden on Friday, October 31st, at 8:30a.
Alfonso announced his campaign for Congress on Wednesday, becoming the third Republican candidate to enter the race for the open 7th District seat following Congressman Tom Tiffany’s announcement that he will be running for Wisconsin Governor. Alfonso joins the field alongside previously announced GOP candidates Jessi Ebben and Paul Wassgren.
The live, unscripted conversation — expected to run about 45 minutes — will stream on DrydenWire’s Facebook page and YouTube channel, with the full recording available later in the day on DrydenWire.com. Viewers can expect an in-depth discussion designed to “get to know the person as well as the candidate.”
Alfonso, who describes himself as a Pro-Trump conservative, says he’s running to fight for the people of Wisconsin, restore hope for Americans, and protect the freedoms that define the nation.
“I was born and raised with the traditional Wisconsin values of faith, community, and hard work — and now I’m ready to give back to the area that gave so much to me,” Alfonso said in his campaign announcement. “I’ve watched as the American Dream has continued to slip away from the people who so deserve it. I’m running for Congress because Northern Wisconsin needs a representative who will truly put our families, communities, and America first.
Alfonso and his wife, Evita Duffy-Alfonso, have deep roots in Northern Wisconsin. Originally from Vilas County, Alfonso grew up in Wausau, working his way through college at UW–Madison while working in construction. The grandson of Cuban refugees who fled communism, Alfonso says his family’s story drives his passion for defending freedom and opportunity in America.
“My grandparents' decision to flee communist Cuba to ensure a better life for our family should not be in vain,” Alfonso said. “The radical left wants to change this country to be what my grandfather fled to escape. We cannot let that happen, and I will fight every day to ensure Wisconsin and this nation continue to provide us with the freedoms and opportunities that my grandparents came here for.”
