Minong Woman Arrested For OWI 2nd Offense Following Two-Vehicle Crash

DOUGLAS COUNTY -- Gretchen Marie Hakime, 38 years of age, from Minong has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Spooner Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 2nd offense, with one child in the vehicle under the age of 16.

On February 13, 2024, at approximately 2:15p, the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash on US-53 at Snowberry Lane.

According to the WSP, during the investigation of the crash and interaction with the at-fault driver, the Trooper observed signs of impairment, and a subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety tests was conducted. The driver, Gretchen M. Hakime from Minong, WI was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant 2nd offense with a minor passenger under 16 years of age in the vehicle.

Ms. Hakime was transported to a nearby facility for an evidentiary test of her blood alcohol level and later transported to the Douglas County Jail. She was also charged with operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration-2nd offense, operating while suspended, and failure to yield right of way.

The twelve-year-old minor passenger was turned over to a family member, according to the WSP.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
