George W. Bush Says Americans "Don't Pay Attention To The Lesson Of 9/11"

Former President George W. Bush gave rare remarks on Wednesday as Americans mark 25 years since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, saying that Americans "don't pay attention to the lesson of 9/11."

"Our nation occasionally goes through isolationist periods, where the attitude is, 'Well, we've got too many problems at home. Therefore, who cares about what happens overseas?'" said Bush, who wasn't yet eight months into his first term when the attacks occurred. "Which really means to me they just don't pay attention to the lessons of 9/11, because what happens overseas matters to our national security at home."

US Diesel Prices Soar Past $6 A Gallon, Deepening Strain For Hauling Everyday Goods

Diesel prices in the U.S. hit yet another record on Friday, soaring past $6 a gallon on average as Washington’s war with Iran disrupts the world’s flow of fuel.

The national average of $6.05 is up from $5.85 last week and $3.70 this time last year, according to motor club AAA.

Higher diesel prices mean more expensive transportation for a long list of everyday goods. That’s because diesel is used for many freight and delivery networks. And some businesses have already passed along steeper costs to consumers in the form of added fees on online orders and packages in the mail.

Fetterman’s GOP Convention Appearance Raises Questions About His Political Future

Sen. John Fetterman’s (D-Pa.) surprise video appearance at the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) first-ever midterm convention is roiling Democrats in Washington, who are growing exasperated by his frequent Fox News appearances and criticisms of democratic socialists.

Political strategists and analysts say that Fetterman’s low approval ratings among Democratic voters in Pennsylvania would have already made it very difficult for him to win the state’s Democratic primary in 2028.

Iran-backed Houthis Seize Key Port In Yemen, Advance On Another Vital Oil Choke Point

The Iran-backed Houthi militant group has seized control of Yemen’s port city of Mokha on the Red Sea coast, bringing Tehran closer to securing another point of leverage in its six-month-long conflict with the U.S.

The Houthis’ capture of Mokha is regarded as a severe setback to Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni forces it backs. It could also increase Iranian pressure around two critically important oil choke points on either side of the Arabian Peninsula: the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Strait of Hormuz.

The head of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is asking Enbridge to halt work on building a new stretch of its Line 5 pipeline around the site of a gas leak in Iron County, saying the company lacks state approvals.

In a Wednesday letter to Enbridge, DNR Secretary Karen Hyun said Enbridge has added to a growing list of environmental concerns and violations that demonstrate “disregard for the environment, human health, and the statutory authority of the department.”

The DNR issued a notice of noncompliance to the company for conducting work on the bypass without state approvals, and the agency said it may consider enforcement action.

Wisconsin Is Ready To Legalize Marijuana Next Year Under Democratic Or GOP Control, Congressman Says

A Democratic congressman who represents Wisconsin says the state is poised to legalize marijuana as soon as next year—especially if his party wins control of the legislature in the November elections, but perhaps even if Republicans maintain a majority under new leadership for the 2027 session.

Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI) told Marijuana Moment that there’s a “really good chance” of legalizing cannabis in Wisconsin in the short term if Democrats can “flip the legislature,” where marijuana reform proposals have stalled under Republican control in recent sessions.

As Wisconsin Supreme Court Starts New Term, Planned Parenthood Challenges Abortion Restrictions

Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin filed a new lawsuit challenging Wisconsin abortion restrictions Thursday, just days after the Wisconsin Supreme Court returned to work with a newly cemented 5-2 liberal majority in place.

The lawsuit, filed in Dane County against Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne, argues that two Wisconsin laws violate the state constitution’s guarantee of personal liberty.

One of those laws requires people seeking abortions to wait 24 hours between requesting an abortion and receiving one. The other states that only licensed physicians may provide abortions.
