There is "absolutely no evidence" that Russia's President Vladimir Putin wants to negotiate peace in Ukraine, the outgoing head of Britain's foreign intelligence agency said Friday in a speech. Sir Richard Moore, chief of the Secret Intelligence Service, or MI6 as it is more commonly known, said Putin was "stringing us along."
"He seeks to impose his imperial will by all means at his disposal. But he cannot succeed," Moore said. "Bluntly, Putin has bitten off more than he can chew. He thought he was going to win an easy victory. But he — and many others — underestimated the Ukrainians."

Comedian Jimmy Kimmel’s chances of returning to his late-night perch looked increasingly slim Thursday, a day after ABC announced it was indefinitely suspending him under pressure from affiliates and President Trump’s administration.
Industry observers along with voices on both the political right and left offered differing rationales for why Kimmel was unlikely to return to the small screen any time soon.
But across the political and media worlds, there was near-universal agreement that it was doubtful Kimmel will make a comeback after losing his desk in a sudden move on Wednesday night.

The Federal Trade Commission and a bipartisan group of state attorneys general sued Ticketmaster and its parent company Thursday, saying they are forcing consumers to pay more to see live events through a variety of illegal tactics.

Earlier this month, when U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta issued penalties against Google for monopolizing the search engine market, he stopped short of the harshest ones — like forcing the breakup of the company.
Instead, Mehta ordered Google to share portions of its incredibly valuable search index and user click-and-query data with some of its competitors. This move, which will make it easier for rivals to build their own search engines, is meant to even the playing field in the search space and chip away at Google's monopoly power.

One of the Republicans running for Wisconsin governor is making a big deal out of socialism.
Businessman Bill Berrien on Wednesday drew a clear line over Madison state Rep. Francesca Hong’s membership in the Democratic Socialist of America, and the Wisconsin Assembly’s Socialist Caucus.
“Francesca Hong’s socialist ideology gives Wisconsin voters a clear choice in the battle between the builders and the bureaucrats. I’ll build a world of prosperity driven by better skills and higher wages, while socialists like Hong will drive Wisconsinites into poverty with higher taxes and increased spending,” Berrien said in a statement.
