A diplomatic effort is underway to avoid a major escalation in the Iran war, with Pakistan offering the White House and Tehran a proposal for a 45-day ceasefire that would halt hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz to enable direct negotiations on a range of subjects, according to Axios and the Reuters news agency. There has been no response yet from Tehran or Washington.

Hanging over the new diplomatic push is President Trump's profanity-laced threat to destroy Iran's power plants and other civilian infrastructure — a threat Iran says is a war crime in and of itself — if Tehran doesn't make a deal by Tuesday evening.

Warsh Nomination Moves Ahead, Putting Trump’s Competing Fed Plans On A Collision Course

The Senate Banking Committee will hold a nomination hearing on April 16 for Kevin Warsh to be the next chair of the Federal Reserve, a person familiar with the matter told CNBC.

Warsh’s nomination is moving ahead even as a separate criminal probe into the Fed continues, setting up a potential clash between the two parallel processes set in motion by the Trump administration.

Banking Committee member Sen. Thom Tillis, R.-N.C. has said he won’t vote to confirm Warsh until the probe is resolved. Yet President Donald Trump is eager to get Warsh confirmed.

FCC Eyes Changes To Live Sports Broadcast Rules Amid Fan Frustration

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is opening the door to a rewrite of its rules for local blackout restrictions on live sports, a move that could be the first step in a potential shakeup of the broadcasting landscape for pro leagues and their media partners.

The FCC announced in February it is seeking public comment on “consumer experience” with live sports viewing, noting the rising cost of subscription services and pointing out what it called a “fragmented” modern media landscape.

Savannah Guthrie Makes ‘Today’ Return After Mother’s Disappearance

 “It’s good to be home,” Savannah Guthrie said at the beginning of her first newscast back at the helm of the “Today” show in more than two months.

Today is her first day on the anchor desk since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, disappeared from her Arizona home sometime on or after the evening of Jan. 31.

UCLA Storms Past South Carolina To Claim Its 1st NCAA Women's Basketball Title

It's mission accomplished for UCLA.

Gabriela Jaquez, Lauren Betts and the rest of the UCLA seniors secured the first NCAA women's basketball national championship in school history — a goal that was set after losing in the first Final Four last season.

Jaquez scored 21 points, Betts added 16 and UCLA routed South Carolina 79-51 Sunday in the title game.

We Energies Delays Retirement Of Aging Oak Creek Coal Units To The End Of 2027

We Energies is once again delaying the retirement of two aging coal units at its Oak Creek Power Plant.

Units 7 and 8 at the plant, which went into service in the 1960s, had been scheduled to retire at the end of this year. They will now remain open through the end of 2027.

The retirement of those units has been pushed back a few times already from 2024 to 2025 and then from 2025 to 2026.

Tiffany Hammers Evers’ PSC After We Energies Rate Hike Proposal

The Republican candidate for governor is taking-on Wisconsin’s current governor over spiking power bills.

Republican Tom Tiffany on Thursday took to X to explain how Gov. Tony Evers’ appointed regulators have allowed utilities in Wisconsin to add billions of dollars to power bills across the state.

"Who’s been running the Wisconsin Public Service Commission in recent years? Democrats," Tiffany wrote in a post. "Under their watch, more than $2 billion in utility rate hikes have been rubber-stamped."

DNR Seeking Public Input On 2026 Deer Season

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the state’s. Citizen Deer Advisory Councils are seeking public feedback on Wisconsin's deer management, including harvest quotas, season structure and more ahead of the 2026 deer season.

Each unit in Wisconsin has a Citizen Deer Advisory Council that meets annually to provide input and recommendations to the DNR on local deer management based on deer herd metrics, unit management goals and the public feedback they receive. This process is done annually to allow for adjustments in response to the previous year's deer harvest, winter severity and other factors.

Evers Takes Steps To Issue Wisconsin’s First Commutations In Decades

Democratic Gov. Tony Evers is taking steps to shorten some criminal sentences by handing down the state’s first commutations in more than two decades.

The governor announced Friday he had issued two executive orders to restart the commutation process in Wisconsin. That includes creating a new board to advise him on which sentences should be commuted.

Under Wisconsin’s Constitution, a governor can use commutations to cut short someone’s prison sentence. Commutations can also be used to cut back someone’s time on parole or extended supervision.

An NBA investigation into the dispute between the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo regarding the two-time MVP’s injury status is ongoing.

The NBA issued a statement offering an update on the investigation Saturday, a day after Antetokounmpo told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and The Athletic that he’s healthy and he wants to play.
