Court Of International Trade Blocks Trump’s Tariffs In Sweeping Ruling
A federal court ruled Wednesday that an emergency law does not provide President Trump with unilateral authority to impose tariffs on nearly every country, blocking a series of tariff announcements dating back to February that have rattled financial markets.
The three-judge panel on the U.S. Court of International Trade unanimously ruled Congress did not delegate “unbounded” tariff authority to the president in the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 (IEEPA), the linchpin of Trump’s legal defense.

Nvidia shares jumped in premarket trading on Thursday after posting a positive set of earnings, sparking a rally in global semiconductor stocks.
Shares of Nvidia were 6.5% higher at 05:53 a.m. ET after the company posted better-than-expected earnings and revenue on Wednesday, even as it took a hit from U.S. semiconductor export restrictions to China.
Nvidia has been seen by investors as a bellwether for the broader semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence-related stocks, with its latest strong numbers sparking a rally among global semiconductor names.

Israeli ministers say 22 new Jewish settlements have been approved in the occupied West Bank - the biggest expansion in decades.
Several already exist as outposts, built without government authorisation, but will now be made legal under Israeli law, according to Defence Minister Israel Katz and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.
The issue of settlements - which are widely seen as illegal under international law, though Israel disputes this - is one of the most contentious areas of dispute between Israel and the Palestinians.

Musk, the billionaire Tesla CEO whom President Donald Trump enlisted to cut waste in the federal government, started offboarding from his role Wednesday, a White House official told NBC News, a day after he criticized a Republican bill to fund much of Trump’s agenda.
Two sources later confirmed to NBC News that Musk's more than 114-day long tenure as a special government employee officially concluded Wednesday evening.

Wi Senate Hears A Bill That Would Ensure Insurance Coverage For Breast Cancer Screenings Of Dense Breast Tissue

Richard G. Frohling, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, announced that on May 28, 2025, a five-count federal indictment was issued alleging that David E. Dejanovich (age: 52) of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, engaged in the Receipt of Obscene Visual Depictions of the Sexual Abuse of Children in April 2024, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1466A. The indictment further alleges that he did so as an individual required to register as a sexual offender under state and federal law. He is also charged with a single count of Receipt of Child Pornography.
The obscenity and child pornography charges carry a mandatory 15 years of imprisonment and up to 40 years’ imprisonment as to each count. Dejanovich faces an additional 10 years of mandatory imprisonment consecutive to the obscenity charges if the government proves his status as a sex offender. He may also be fined up to $250,000 as to each count and would continue to be required to register as a sexual offender under state and federal law.

Timothy M. O’Shea, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Toudeng Thao, 59, La Crosse, Wisconsin was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley to 90 months in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine and possessing methamphetamine for distribution. Thao pleaded guilty to these charges on March 3, 2025.
On January 25, 2024, law enforcement arrested both Thao and codefendant Joua Thao during a traffic stop as they returned to La Crosse, Wisconsin, from Minnesota after picking up approximately 443 grams of methamphetamine for distribution. Thao and Joua Thao were previously married but were divorced at the time of the arrest. In the six months before his arrest, Thao distributed or possessed for distribution over 5 ½ kilograms of methamphetamine. Thao claimed to have received methamphetamine from multiple sources in Minnesota, California, Canada, and Mexico. He also claimed he supplied six drug distributors. Through a series of controlled purchases, Thao and Joua Thao sold a confidential informant a total of 203.9 grams of methamphetamine in La Crosse. Thao also possessed a firearm during one drug transaction and sought more firearms to traffic to his drug suppliers.

State and local officials celebrated the grand opening of a roughly $28 million dock restoration in Superior on Wednesday, with the project allowing commercial shipping operations to return to a site that had been idle for three decades.
The rehabilitation effort allowed C. Reiss Co. to relocate its shipping operations from Duluth. Founded in Wisconsin in 1880, the company handles about 2 million tons of bulk materials like coal, limestone and salt each year.

Wisconsin parents will likely see different report cards next year.
The state’s Department of Public Instruction on Monday announced plans to “review” and “update” the state’s report cards.
"Just as you wouldn’t rely on a decade-old GPS to find your way today, we can’t use outdated performance benchmarks to guide school improvement,” Superintendent Jill Underly said in a statement.
DPI said it will hold summer meetings with a "panel of more than two dozen education leaders," to look at the "score ranges that determine the overall accountability ratings."
