Former President Trump spoke Monday with Tesla founder Elon Musk on X, which Musk owns, marking Trump’s most significant return to the social media platform since he was reinstated in 2023.

Trump and Musk spoke for roughly two hours after their conversation was delayed because of technical issues that prevented many from initially joining. The two covered a range of topics, including the recent assassination attempt on Trump, his views on immigration and the economy, and the future of energy production. Musk has endorsed Trump in the 2024 campaign.

The FBI confirmed Monday afternoon it’s investigating allegations that Iranian cyber agents breached Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in another case of foreign intelligence services targeting U.S. elections, as the Kamala Harris campaign revealed it was the victim of a failed hack attempt.

Trump said on Saturday that Iran had hacked his 2024 political operation, confirming speculation that the Republican nominee was the unnamed victim of a June intrusion that the tech giant Microsoft had exposed a day earlier.

U.S. Says Potential Iran Retaliation Against Israel Could Come This Week

The Biden administration is preparing for a potential attack on Israel by Iran and its proxies as soon as this week, in retaliation for the recent assassinations of top leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah.

"We have to be prepared for what could be a significant set of attacks, which is why, again, we have increased our force posture and capabilities in the region even in just the last few days," White House national security spokesperson John Kirby told reporters on Monday.

How Did The Stock Market Bounce Back From Its Worst Day In Years?

Volatility overtook the stock market last week, amplifying worries about a possible recession and stoking panic among investors.

At least 27 states are reporting "very high" levels and 17 states are reporting "high" levels of wastewater viral activity.

Officer Involved Shooting In Fitchburg, Wis.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating an officer involved shooting in the City of Fitchburg, Wis. that occurred on the morning of Monday, August 12, 2024.

At approximately 8:00 a.m., Fitchburg police officers responded to a residence on the 800 block of Whispering Pines Way for a 911 call reporting a disturbance. While on scene, the officers were approached by a witness who reported a physical altercation between two individuals and directed the officers to the residence where the individuals entered. Officers knocked on the door of the residence for an extended period of time before entering. The officers located a person with knife and one officer discharged his weapon, striking the individual. Law enforcement immediately began lifesaving measures, and the individual was transferred to a local hospital to receive treatment.

Wisconsin Department Of Justice Releases Journal Entries From Teenage Gunman

The Wisconsin Department of Justice is releasing photos and videos of a shooting outside Mount Horeb Middle School on May 1st. In the footage, moments before, during and after are revealed.

The DOJ included journal entries from the 14-year-old gunman. They date as far back as January 26th. In it, he writes "battle plan" on the top of the page and has eight tasks underneath.

Wisconsin Capitol Police Decline To Investigate Leak Of State Supreme Court Abortion Order

Wisconsin Capitol Police have declined to investigate the leak of a state Supreme Court abortion order in June citing a conflict of interest, but the court’s chief justice told The Associated Press she is pursuing other options.

Chief Justice Annette Ziegler told AP via email on Aug. 8 that she continues “to pursue other means in an effort to get to the bottom of this leak.” She did not respond to messages on Aug. 12 and the previous week asking what those other means were. Other justices also did not return a request for comment on Aug. 12.

As the child of dairy farmers and a small-business owner in western Wisconsin, Democratic candidate Rebecca Cooke has presented herself as a working-class political newcomer. But her congressional campaign has only vaguely referenced her behind-the-scenes work in political fundraising. As Tuesday’s Democratic primary for Wisconsin’s Third District draws closer, Cooke’s main opponent, state Rep. Katrina Shankland, has accused her of lying about her background to voters.
