Officer Involved Shooting In Fitchburg, Wis.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating an officer involved shooting in the City of Fitchburg, Wis. that occurred on the morning of Monday, August 12, 2024.

At approximately 8:00 a.m., Fitchburg police officers responded to a residence on the 800 block of Whispering Pines Way for a 911 call reporting a disturbance. While on scene, the officers were approached by a witness who reported a physical altercation between two individuals and directed the officers to the residence where the individuals entered. Officers knocked on the door of the residence for an extended period of time before entering. The officers located a person with knife and one officer discharged his weapon, striking the individual. Law enforcement immediately began lifesaving measures, and the individual was transferred to a local hospital to receive treatment.

Wisconsin Department Of Justice Releases Journal Entries From Teenage Gunman

The Wisconsin Department of Justice is releasing photos and videos of a shooting outside Mount Horeb Middle School on May 1st. In the footage, moments before, during and after are revealed.

The DOJ included journal entries from the 14-year-old gunman. They date as far back as January 26th. In it, he writes "battle plan" on the top of the page and has eight tasks underneath.

Wisconsin Capitol Police Decline To Investigate Leak Of State Supreme Court Abortion Order

Wisconsin Capitol Police have declined to investigate the leak of a state Supreme Court abortion order in June citing a conflict of interest, but the court’s chief justice told The Associated Press she is pursuing other options.

Chief Justice Annette Ziegler told AP via email on Aug. 8 that she continues “to pursue other means in an effort to get to the bottom of this leak.” She did not respond to messages on Aug. 12 and the previous week asking what those other means were. Other justices also did not return a request for comment on Aug. 12.
