California became the first U.S. state to bar school districts from requiring staff to notify parents of their child’s gender identification change under a law signed Monday by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The law bans school rules requiring teachers and other staff to disclose a student’s gender identity or sexual orientation to any other person without the child’s permission. Russia Antivirus Firm Kaspersky Quits US After Ban

Russian antivirus giant Kaspersky Labs has told BBC News that it is leaving the US after the Biden administration banned sales and distribution of the firm's software.

Kaspersky said it had made the "sad and difficult decision" to leave "as business opportunities in the country are no longer viable".

It comes after Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said last month that Moscow's influence over the company posed a significant risk to US infrastructure and services.

Kaspersky, which had been operating in the US for two decades, has denied the allegations.

Protesters Gather In Milwaukee Outside RNC To Rally For Abortion And Immigrant Rights, End To The War In Gaza

Hundreds of demonstrators converged July 15 on downtown Milwaukee to protest around the Republican National Convention, following through on their long-standing plans to rally outside the site despite the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

The protests were peaceful, as organizers had promised they would be. Only two people were arrested.

Johnson In RNC Address Calls Dem Agenda ‘Clear And Present Danger To America’

U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson during his prime-time address to the Republican National Convention tonight called Democrats’ agenda and policies a “clear and present danger to America.”

Johnson, R-Oshkosh, said Democrats of old “cared about workers and people struggling to get by.”

“Now they are the party of open borders, reckless spending, weaponized government and weakness on the world stage,” he said.

Johnson said the Democratic agenda includes the sexualization of children and “biological males competing against girls.”

Land Trusts To Seek More Stewardship Funds After State Supreme Court Decision

Land conservation groups say they expect to see more funding requests under the state’s land purchase program now that the Legislature’s finance committee can’t legally block conservation projects.

At the same time, Republican lawmakers say the decision has placed the future of the program in jeopardy.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled 6-1 earlier this month that certain statutes governing the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program unconstitutionally authorize the legislative committee to block spending of funds the full Legislature had already earmarked for land purchases.

Panel Recommends Removing Ex-Chancellor From Wisconsin College Faculty Post For Making Adult Videos

A faculty committee has recommended that a former chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse be removed from his tenured position over his involvement in adult entertainment.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that the committee’s unanimous decision over Joe Gow sets up a vote by the University of Wisconsin’s Board of Regents to fire him.

Gow is on paid leave because he holds a tenured faculty appointment and wants to return to teaching. The regents fired Gow as chancellor in December 2023 for creating pornographic videos posted on adult websites.

Wisconsin Dad, 52, And His Daughter, 23, Both Die After Running Out Of Water During 100F Hike Through Utah Beauty Spot

A father and daughter from Green Bay, Wisconsin tragically died after running out of water during a sweltering hike at a well-known Utah National Park.

The unidentified dad, 52, and his daughter, 23, were found dead by park rangers and members of the Bureau of Land Management at Canyonlands National Park on Friday.

At the time of the unfortunate incident, the air temperature was reported to be higher than 100°F, officials said.
