Gas, Oil Prices Worry GOP As Trump Floats Taking Over Strait Of Hormuz
Republicans on Capitol Hill are growing worried about President Trump’s bet that Americans are willing to swallow higher gas prices due to the conflict with Iran, especially ahead of the November elections.
The president, only weeks ago in his State of the Union address, had pointed to lowering gas prices as a major victory for his economic agenda. But the Iran conflict is sending oil prices soaring to levels not seen since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon signed a bill into law on Monday banning abortion in the state after a "fetal heartbeat" has been detected.
HB 126, or the Human Heartbeat Act, prohibits abortion once cardiac activity is identified, which is around six weeks of pregnancy, before many women know they're pregnant.
If cardiac activity is detected, an abortion can only be performed in the case of a medical emergency, meaning if the life of the mother is in danger or if continuing the pregnancy would cause serious or irreversible impairment of a major bodily function, according to the bill.

Global insurers, brokers and shipping companies are concerned about an environmental catastrophe if an oil tanker sinks in the Persian Gulf.
It’s a massive risk in a region that stretches from Kuwait to Qatar — an area of glittering high-rise buildings, posh beachfront resorts and booming commercial centers. Its incredible wealth and shift toward tourism is a dramatic change from the late 1980s, when a tanker war between Iraq and Iran threatened the oil trade in the Persian Gulf.
What the region doesn’t have is the kind of sophisticated oil clean-up industry and technology that is readily available in the United States, according to a risk advisor who asked not to be named.

The John K. MacIver Institute for Public Policy today announced that it filed an amicus curiae brief with the Wisconsin Supreme Court in support of Judge Jim Troupis's petition for review in a high-profile criminal case related to the 2020 presidential election. MacIver called on the Court to grant the petition and order an evidentiary hearing to address credible allegations of misconduct in the Dane County Circuit Court.
The Troupis case involves charges against him for his role advising an alternate slate of electors. However, Troupis has raised serious concerns about the impartiality of a key circuit court decision, alleging it was influenced by a retired judge with a prior connection to related civil litigation. Evidence suggests the retired judge, whose son serves as the current court clerk, may have contributed to drafting the decision, creating at least the appearance of bias. The circuit court dismissed these claims without a hearing, prompting Troupis to seek Supreme Court intervention.
