UPDATE: Authorities Release Names Of Mother And Son In Double-Fatal Crash

CHIPPEWA COUNTY -- Authorities in Chippewa County have released the names of the mother and her son involved in the double-fatal crash that occurred on May 10th.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office has identified the victims as:

  • Camellia F Kelch age 38 of Cadott, WI.
  • Isaiah P Kelch age 13 of Cadott, WI.

The Driver of the Semi has been identified as Justin A Ritchie age 38 of Maiden Rock, WI.

CHIPPEWA COUNTY -- A multiple-vehicle crash in Chippewa County has resulted in the deaths of a 13-year-old boy and his mother, according to a press release from the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office.

On Monday May 10th 2021 at 11:01 am the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Dept. received a 911 call reporting an accident just occurred on S-Hwy 29 involving a Semi Tractor-Trailer and a passenger car. The information reported was that the accident occurred in the east bound lane of S-Hwy 29 near mile marker 83 just west of 190th Street.

Upon arrival Sheriff Deputies spoke a number of witnesses who indicated the Chev Monte Carlo was west bound on S-Hwy 29 crossed over into the median, then traveled into the east bound lane striking an east bound semi-tractor and trailer.

Sheriff Deputies upon arrival located the occupants of the Chev Monte Carlo on the roadway and shoulder who were ejected from their vehicle. The two occupants were deceased.

Sheriff Deputies then interviewed the driver of the Semi-Tractor Trailer who indicated he was east bound on S-Hwy 29 when the Chev Monte Carlo traveling west bound entered the median, then onto the east bound lane striking the left front of his Semi.

The driver of the semi was not injured due to the crash.

The names of the subjects involved will be disclosed once Family and others are notified.

Agencies assisting in the investigation:

Wisconsin State Patrol, the Chippewa County Coroner’s Office and the Chippewa Fire District.

Investigators are still on scene.

Deceased:

  • A 38 year old female and her 13 year old son from rural Cadott, WI.

  • Driver of the Semi a 39 year old male from Maiden Rock WI.

  • 2004 Chev Monte Carlo
  • 2005 Semi Tractor 2013 Semi Trailer
