For several weeks The Washburn County Sheriff's Office Drug Investigator has been exchanging intelligence with other law enforcement agencies regarding an individual involved in methamphetamine trafficking and wanted for kidnapping.
On 4/17/18 members of The Washburn County Sheriff's Office, The Spooner Police Department, The Wisconsin State Patrol, The Douglas County Sheriff's Office, and The Superior Police Department, engaged in an operation to arrest 34-year-old Richard T. Edstrom, from Superior.
After approximately five hours of containment and surveillance operations, Deputies and Officers entered a property located in The Township of Evergreen, in Washburn County. Multiple individuals were encountered and secured, and methamphetamine was seized. The focus of the operation, Richard Edstrom was taken into custody.
Edstrom is being held in the Douglas County Jail on the following Charges: Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Burglary, Substantial Battery, and Aggravated Battery.
A huge Thank You to all the law enforcement officers involved in this case. This is yet another example of cooperation between agencies resulting in the apprehension of a dangerous individual.
