Multiple people were ejected from their vehicles following a crash in Barron County yesterday, according to a press release from Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald.
(Press Release) -- On June 26, 2018, at 1:16 p.m., the Barron County Sheriff’s Department was advised of a two vehicle crash on Hwy 8 at 17th Ave, just east of Barron with multiple people ejected.
Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department along with the Barron Fire, Gold Cross Ambulance, Lakeview Medical Center Ambulance, Life Link Helicopter and Barron County First Responders responded to the scene.
Initial investigation shows a Toyota Prius driven by Brenda Lillard, 65 of Barron, pulled from the stop sign on 17th Ave and struck a truck driven by Michael Rasmussen, 46 of Eau Claire.
Lillard was treated at the scene and release and Rasmussen was ejected from the truck and flown out with serious but non-life threatening injures.
A passenger in the truck Kevin Walker, 36 of Eau Claire, was also ejected and was transported to Mayo Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Barron County has seen an increase of 13% (186 crashes to date in 2018) in accidents already this year over last year and with this holiday weekend approaching I want to remind everyone to buckle up, don’t drink and drive and don’t text and drive. Take your time so you can enjoy your destination with your friends and family.
