WASHBURN COUNTY (DrydenWire) — A tense standoff unfolded in Sarona Township, Washburn County, Wisconsin, on the evening of February 6, 2025, after a 911 call reported gunfire inside a residence, according to a press release from the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement swiftly responded, surrounding the home where a male suspect had allegedly fired shots while confronting a bedridden resident. After numerous attempts at communication with the suspect, special response teams entered the house and apprehended the suspect without harm to the victim. The suspect (name not included in the press release) is facing numerous possible charges including reckless endangerment and drug possession.

On February 6th, 2025, at about 6:11 p.m., Washburn County dispatch received a 911 call from a resident in Sarona Township. Female resident stated that in the residence was her adult son, and another male party that is bed bound. Female resident advised that she heard her son yelling at the bed bound male, and the bed bound male repeatedly yelling for help. Female resident then heard "several popping sounds that sounded like gun shots" inside the residence. Female resident was able to exit the house at that time and call 911.
Washburn County Deputies along with Wisconsin State Patrol, and North Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the location. Deputies, and Trooper began holding a perimeter on the residence, as Washburn County Special Response Team was activated. Sawyer County, and Burnett County Special Response Teams were also requested to respond.
Numerous attempts were made to make contact with the male suspect inside the residence with no result. After no communication entry was made by Response Teams. The male suspect was located in the bedroom of the bed bound male. Within reach of the male suspect was a loaded rifle. Male suspect was taken into custody, and the bed bound male was not harmed.
Male suspect was arrested and being held with charges pending of Domestic Disorderly Conduct, Reckless Endangering safety, Possession of THC, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting/Obstruction, Criminal Damage to Property.
Al law enforcement were clear from the scene at approximately 12:30 a.m. Assisting on this incident were North Memorial Emergency Medical, North Memorial Air Care, Burnett County SRT, Sawyer County SRT, and Wisconsin State Patrol.
