Authorities Release Name of Victim in Fatal Crash

The Polk County Sheriff's Department has released the name of the victim in the Town of Sterling fatal crash from 10/1/17.  The PCSD says the victim has been identified as Eldor (Buddy) Bruce Jr., 58, St. Croix Falls, WI.

On the evening of Sunday Oct. 1st, 2017 at 2105hrs, Polk County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a report of a one vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of Evergreen Ave and State Hwy 87 in Sterling Township. The driver/single occupant was described to be unconscious, unresponsive and trapped in a pickup truck which was located in a swampy area off of the roadway at the northwest corner of the intersection.

Responding emergency services were able to remove the driver from the vehicle and begin CPR. The driver was then transported to the St. Croix Regional Medical Center. He was then flown to Regions Hospital in St. Paul for further treatment. The Sheriff’s Office was later notified by the Ramsey Co. Medical Examiner that the subject had passed away at 2305hrs. The victim’s name will not be released at this time.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. The following agencies responded to this incident: The Cushing Fire Department, Cushing First Responders, Luck Area Ambulance Service, Life Link III and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
