New Information: Ryan Gedart’s Body Discovered with Gunshot Wounds to Chest, Sources

NOTE: The Sawyer County Sheriff's Department has issued a press release stating that DCI is working with the Sheriff's Dept in the investigation. We have added that to this post and you will see those additions in bold.

SAWYER COUNTY -- The death of the 21-year old Hayward man has turned into a possible homicide investigation as sources close to the situation tell DrydenWire.com that two gunshot wounds were found in the chest area of Ryan Gedart.

On Sunday morning at 6:43 a.m. Sawyer County Deputies, assisted by Sawyer County EMTs and a Sawyer County Paramedic responded to Tag Alder Road near the Tag Alder Creek Bridge in the Town of Lenroot, after the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office Dispatch received a call of a male lying face down in the roadway.

Witness reports claim Gedart had crashed his vehicle into the creek a short time before that.

According to multiple sources, Sawyer County Sheriff’s Department originally deemed Gedart's death a suicide and informed at least one family member of this later Sunday morning.

As of Monday, The Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is assisting in the investigation and Gedart’s body had been transferred to Regions Hospital in Ramsey County Minnesota for an autopsy. We do not know the results of that autopsy.

Messages left this week at the Sawyer County Sheriff's Department have not been returned.

Wisconsin DCI and the Sawyer County Sheriff's Dept. continue to investigate the incident.

DrydenWire.com will continue to update the community on this tragedy when we can confirm more information.
