New Tool Enables Barron County Residents To Register Camera Locations For Crime Assistance

BARRON COUNTY — The Barron County Sheriff’s Department is launching the second phase of its community tools initiative with a new camera location registry aimed at helping solve crimes more efficiently, according to a press release from Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald.

PRESS RELEASE

With technology changing at such a fast rate, the Barron County Sheriff’s Department is launching part two of the community tools which will allow you to assist us in solving crimes.

Part two of the launch is the camera location tool. This tool will allow you to register the location of your home or business cameras to help us solve crimes faster. By registering your camera location we DO NOT have access to your camera feed, only the camera location. When minutes count, this tool will allow us to locate any registered camera locations near the active incident. This will then allow us to contact you to share any recordings that may assist the department with the active incident. This will save time instead of staff having to go door to door inquiring if you have a camera or a door bell camera.

To register your camera location, visit cityprotect.com, select the Barron County Sheriff’s Department from the agencies list and click on “Register cameras”.

To register your camera location, you will need to create an account. Once the account is created, you will be able to add the information on your camera location:

  • Home or Business
  • Inside or Outside
  • Camera Name and Description
  • Address
  • Direction
  • Features (optional)
  • Contact Information

The hope with this tool is that the public will register their camera locations to assist in solving crimes faster. This tool does not allow us access to your camera, only the camera location and that you are willing to share if we need it.

Please register your camera at cityprotect.com.

Remember the community tools available on cityprotect.com also allow you to submit an anonymous tip.
