SPOONER, WI -- When you drive by the Washburn County Information Center in Spooner, you’ll likely have to do a double-take these days. On Thursday, July 18th, a 10 foot cut-out of the state of Wisconsin, purchased from Your-Type Larger than Life Letters, arrived and was set in place. This long awaited photo opportunity was the dream of the Washburn County Tourism Association Team and was accomplished in partnership with the Spooner Area Chamber of Commerce and Heart of the North Spooner Rodeo, both of which also have offices in the information center building. The team is still working on landscaping and lighting for the display to enhance the north lawn area.

This project was one of many that the Washburn County Tourism Association team and board of directors have been working on over the past year to enhance visitor experiences to the area. As you stroll into the visitor center itself, you’ll be greeted by the friendly staff of Washburn County Tourism Association, as well as a local facts trivia game, gift shop, and the brand new ‘Visit WashCo Mural’ created by local artist, Blain Churchill. The team has been working on a variety of updates including a fresh look for the county tourism website, www.washburncounty.org, and updates to much of the marketing for the area.
