One Arrested Following Reports Of Shots Fired In Burnett County

BURNETT COUNTY -- One person is in custody following a complaint of shots being fired in the Village of Grantsburg on Wednesday, according to a joint press release from the Burnett County Sheriff and Grantsburg Police Chief.

On February 3, 2021 at approximately 3:32 p.m., the Grantsburg Police Department responded to a complaint of shots fired at 657 N. Nelson Street in the Village of Grantsburg.

Through further investigation the shots were believed to be fired by Douglas Murphy Jr. toward a victim (whose name will not be released at this time).

There were no apparent injuries from the shooting.

The Grantsburg Police Department was granted a search warrant that was executed by the Burnett County Emergency Response Team in conjunction with the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office.

The warrant was executed at approximately 9:25 p.m. and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
