PIERCE COUNTY - A crash occurred on US 63 on Wednesday evening in Pierce County that resulted in 1 fatality and left 2 others with life-threatening injuries, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol.
(News Release) - On Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at approximately 5:30 PM, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Pierce County Sheriffs Office responded to a two-vehicle crash on US HWY 63 at CTH Y, in the Town of Martell, Pierce County. The initial investigation indicates that a Kia passenger car was traveling northbound on US HWY 63 and a Buick passenger car was traveling southbound. The northbound Kia traveled left of the centerline and collided head-on into the southbound Buick.
The passenger of the Buick received fatal injuries. The driver of the Buick was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. The driver of the Kia was airlifted from the scene.
Assisting agencies included Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, Ellsworth EMS, Ellsworth Fire Dept., Spring Valley Fire Dept., Baldwin EMS, River Falls EMS, and Life Link III.
The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
