BARRON COUNTY — A tragic one-vehicle crash on Friday evening resulted in the death of a local resident, according to a press release from the Barron County Sheriff’s Office.

On Friday, August 2, 2024, at 7:12 p.m., the Barron County 911 Center received a call of a one vehicle accident on 29th Street near 7th Ave just east of Chetek.
Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department along with the Chetek EMS and Chetek Fire responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, deputies located a single male occupant deceased in a vehicle as a result of the crash. Initial investigation shows that the driver failed to stop at the sign and due to speed lost control of the vehicle.
The driver was identified as Zach Kahl, 28 of Chetek.
