Outdoor Bluegrass Gospel Concert at Spooner UMC, July 14

The Hartley Family from Arkadelphia, Arkansas will play a family concert of bluegrass and gospel music at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 14 on the lawn at Spooner United Methodist Church.  The Hartley’s were with us a year ago and it’s by popular demand that they are back.  Like last year, it’s a free concert (though a bucket will be passed)  for the whole community.  Folks are invited to come with friends, bring a blanket and lawn chairs and join us on the back lawn of the church.  Folks at the church are providing root beer floats, popcorn & other treats.  The Hartley family will bring the music.  You just bring yourselves and a bunch of friends as well.

The Hartley Family started learning to play bluegrass and gospel music in 2003, just wanting to do something together as a family. A year later, to their surprise, they started getting invitations to play at churches, festivals, and other events. By 2007 they were traveling to places as far away as upstate New York, sharing their songs and meeting many kind people. The band changed in 2012 when the 3 older children moved away from home and couldn’t keep the touring schedule but the rest kept on making music. Although the band has changed a lot from what it was for 8 years, their goals remain the same: to (1) Honor God, (2) Bring joy to people, and (3) encourage others.

Locally the Hartley family has been a part of the Hershey Family Hootenany and are in this part of the country because they are on their way to the Lake Itaska Family Music Festival

Spooner United Methodist Church is at 312 Elm Street, the corner of Summit and Elm in downtown Spooner.
