Overnight Structure Fire in Chetek

At approximately 2320 hrs on January 7 2018, Chetek Fire Department was dispatched to 214 Knapp Street in Chetek for an apartment fire. Initial size-up reported a two story residential structure with heavy flames from the roof. All occupants (including neighboring homes) were evacuated by Chetek Police, with one resident transported for smoke inhalation and one firefighter transported for medical reasons. No other injuries reported and all other residents were placed in hotel rooms overnight by the Red Cross.

Second Street was temporarily closed from Moore to Douglas, with a detour on First Street.

Assisting departments included New Auburn Fire, Cameron Fire, Chetek EMS, Gold Cross EMS, Excel Energy, Chetek Police, and Barron County Sheriff’s Department.
