WASHBURN COUNTY — On the evening of February 17, 2025, a routine traffic stop in Spooner, Wisconsin, led to a significant drug bust. A Spooner Police officer pulled over a speeding vehicle, only to discover a large quantity of THC edibles, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia inside. A subsequent second search of the vehicle uncovered even more drug contraband, as well as a 9mm handgun with a hollow point round in the chamber and 11 in the magazine.
The driver, Steven Romero Chambers (29), and passenger, Diamond Renae Johnson (24), both from Minnesota, were taken into custody and later charged.
Charges against Chambers are proceeding in Washburn County Circuit Court. Johnson was sentenced on convictions from her case during a May 18, 2026, court hearing.
