Paul Johnson Announces Campaign for 74th Assembly District

SPOONER, WI — Paul Johnson, a Democrat, has announced his campaign for Wisconsin's 74th Assembly District, emphasizing his background in law enforcement, local governance, and small business experience, according to a campaign announcement released Wednesday.

CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCEMENT

Since retiring from law enforcement, I have served on the Spooner Area School Board and Washburn County Board, contributing to policy and oversight through multiple committees.

As a small business owner, I have firsthand experience managing the demands of tourism and agriculture in our local economy. In my career, I have helped develop a local task force to address workforce housing shortages and have advocated for expanded school nutrition programs. While providing care for a court-assigned individual with special needs, I worked with local agencies to secure additional family support services.

My wife Terri and I have enjoyed 43 years together, raising two children and now cherishing time with our four grandchildren. After growing up in Spooner, I value being an active part of this community.

When you elect me, I will use my experience to champion policies that grow our economy, strengthen public education, and reduce social inequities.

Thank you for your time. I invite you to get involved—join our campaign, volunteer, or share your ideas. Together, we can make a real difference in our district. As I travel throughout the area, I look forward to meeting you, listening to your concerns, and putting your ideas into action. Please reach out—your voice matters and will help shape our future.

— Paul Johnson

Republican Chanz Green currently represents the 74th Assembly District and announced Monday that he is seeking re-election. Scott Harbridge also announced earlier this year that he will challenge Rep. Green again after losing to him in 2024.
