Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle In Hayward; Transported To Hospital With ‘Unknown Serious Injuries’

SAWYER COUNTY — A 35-year old male was struck by a vehicle in the early hours on Sunday morning and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with unknown serious injuries, according to a press release from the City of Hayward Police Department.

On Sunday, July 19 at approximately 12:12am, a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of US Highway 63 and Main Street in the City of Hayward. The male subject was transported by ambulance to the Hayward Memorial Hospital with unknown serious injuries. The 35 year old victim was identified as a resident of Madison, Wisconsin. The 49 year old male driver of the vehicle was identified as a resident of New Hope, Minnesota.

The city of Hayward Police Department was assisted by The Sawyer County Sheriff’s Department, the LCO Police Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

The crash was reconstructed by the Wisconsin State Patrol. The south bound lane of US Highway 63 was reopened to traffic around 5:00AM. The driver consented to a blood test and the results are pending at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene. Names are being withheld pending notification of the victims family.
