SHELL LAKE, WI — The community came together Saturday at Matt’s Ice Cream Stand for the 6th annual pig roast fundraiser benefiting the City of Shell Lake Chamber’s 3rd of July celebration.
Held from 11a to 2p at the Highway 63 location across from the Shell Lake public beach, the annual event welcomed a steady crowd throughout the afternoon as residents and visitors gathered to enjoy good food while supporting one of Shell Lake’s biggest summer traditions.
Despite slightly chilly conditions during parts of the day, organizers reported the fundraiser was a success, raising $1,930 to help support the city’s annual fireworks show and street dance festivities scheduled for July 3.

Guests were served pulled pork roasted over the grill along with baked beans, coleslaw, buns, lemonade, and a dessert treat from Matt’s Ice Cream Stand. The event operated on a free-will donation basis, with proceeds going directly toward the annual celebration.
Volunteers spent the afternoon serving meals, greeting attendees, and helping keep the event running smoothly as community members stopped by to show their support. Organizers expressed appreciation for the turnout as well as the local businesses and sponsors who continue to help make both the fundraiser and Shell Lake’s 3rd of July festivities possible each year.
