News Release
On 04/07/2020 at approximately 9:50 PM a raccoon made contact with the secondary buss work at our Beaverbrook Substation W7205 W. Beaverbrook Ave, this caused the fuses to blow.
We transferred all of the electrical load to our north substation to restore power at approximately 10:30 PM.
We had our electrical engineer visit 4/8/20 to confirm what needed to be done to put the substation back in service.
After changing 3 fuses and 3 insulators, we put the substation back on line at approximately 10:00 AM.
There was a loud noise when the fuses blew and a flash of light, there was no fire or explosion.
Our City Council approved the construction of our north substation in 2012, this decision allows our system to have redundancy in the event of a situation described above so we can restore power to our customers.
