Prison Sentence for Conviction on Felony Fleeing and Meth Charges

Barron man sentenced to prison on conviction of felony fleeing and possession of methamphetamine.

Online circuit court records show that a Barron man was sentenced to 18 months in prison in Barron County Circuit on December 7, 2017, for a conviction of Class I Felony Vehicle Operator Fleeing an Officer and Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine.

DrydenWire.com reported on May 2, 2017, that Billy Daniels had been arrested by the Barron County Sheriff’s Department following a short pursuit after Daniels failed to stop for a Barron County Sheriff’s Deputy.

A press release issued by the Barron County Sheriff’s Department on May 2, 2017, stated that a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle west of Chetek for a traffic violation. The vehicle did not stop but instead increased it’s speed and traveled into the city of Chetek, WI. When the vehicle did stop, the driver and passenger fled on foot. Deputies were able to apprehend the driver, who was identified as Billy Daniels, but the passenger escaped arrest.  It is unknown to DrydenWire.com if the passenger was ever located or charged.

Daniels was charged with Class I Felony Vehicle Operator Fleeing an Officer and Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Class H Felony Bail Jumping-Felony. At a plea hearing on July 21, 2017, Daniels entered a plea of guilty to the charges of Class I Felony Vehicle Operator Fleeing an Officer and Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine. The charge of Class H Felony Bail Jumping-Felony was dismissed.

According to online circuit court records, at his December 7 hearing, Daniels also received additional sentencing for 2 cases from 2014 in which his probation was revoked. Daniels is to serve 18 months in prison for these previous convictions for Class I Felony Possession of Narcotic Drugs, and Class H Felony Bail Jumping-Felony. These sentences will be served concurrently with his new prison sentence.

Online circuit court records also indicate that there is an open case in Polk County Circuit Court, charging Daniels with Class F Felony Burglary and Misdemeanor Theft of Movable Property. Daniels is scheduled to be sentenced on those charges later this week.
