Prison Term Ordered For Hayward Man Convicted Of Child Abuse

SAWYER COUNTY -- Hayward, WI man David Dutcher has been sentenced to serve time in prison on his conviction of physical abuse of a child; amended from Class C Felony Repeated Sexual Assault of a Child.

DrydenWire.com reported in July 2018 that Dutcher was facing charges after Sawyer County law enforcement received information that Dutcher had allegedly sexually assaulted a juvenile female on multiple occasions between August 2017 and January 2018.

A criminal complaint was filed against Dutcher in June 2018 charging him with Class C Felony Repeated Sexual Assault of a Child. According to online circuit court records, Dutcher plead No Contest to an amended charge of Physical Abuse of a Child, Repeated Acts Causing Bodily Harm at a hearing on March 26, 2019.

Details of the settlement of the case are not included in the online circuit court record, however it is noted that the Court found that the victim’s rights had been complied with.

Online circuit court records show that Dutcher appeared for a sentencing hearing in Sawyer County Circuit Court at which time the Court ordered a sentence of 15 years; 10 years initial confinement in state prison followed by 5 years of extended supervision.

Conditions of Dutcher’s extended supervision will require him to to attend and complete sex offender treatment and any follow thru recommended by provider as well as complete any assessments and/or treatment deemed appropriate by agent. 

Dutcher will also be prohibited from having any contact with the victim in the case or the victim’s family.
