(Release) SPOONER, WI -- Washburn County Emergency Management coordinated an Emergency Communications regional training and exercise opportunity during the week of October 24-28, 2016 in Spooner, WI, at the new Spooner Fire Hall.
The training focused on the development of Technician-level Communications in the region to better support the various public safety communication needs to an emergency response during significant incidents, such as flooding and other natural or man-made disasters.
The training was provided as a result of funding by Wisconsin Emergency Management and the Office of Emergency Communications, a division of Homeland Security.
Emergency Operations Center staff and Public Safety professionals from around the region attended the 40 hour training. This is the second round of training that has been hosted in this region in the past 14 months. A Communication Unit Leader course was held in Washburn County in August of 2015.
This training was made possible due to the commitments of many public safety agencies in the region to have personnel available to attend the training. Thanks to participating Mobile Command Posts from North Ambulance, Barron County, Polk County, and the State of Wisconsin. This advanced training provides us the opportunity to enhance our response capabilities during times of crisis in our region.
