Rep. Dave Armstrong Recognized as a WEDA Champion of Economic Development

Madison, WI – The Wisconsin Economic Development Association (WEDA) recently announced that state Rep. Dave Armstrong (R-Rice Lake) has been awarded its Champion of Economic Development Award for his leadership during the 2025-26 Wisconsin Legislative Session on legislation aimed at boosting economic growth. His efforts at the State Capitol will help promote local housing development, strengthen Wisconsin’s workforce, and drive community revitalization across the state.

“Recognizing Rep. Armstrong with the WEDA Champion of Economic Development Award was an easy decision. His work on key policies and programs to encourage economic growth in Wisconsin speaks for itself, and we were excited to recognize him for his efforts,” said Michael Welsh, WEDA vice president of Legislative Affairs. “He brings decades of economic development experience and expertise to the halls of the State Capitol, helping advance critical programs and policies that drive economic growth in the 67th Assembly District and communities across the state.”

Rep. Armstrong earned WEDA’s Champion of Economic Development Award for his efforts on legislation addressing some of the state’s most pressing economic challenges and providing communities with the tools to drive local economic activity. His work on key legislative proposals included creating a new childcare tax credit, improving local financing tools for residential infrastructure and housing development, and establishing incentives for Main Street revitalization and community development.

“It’s a great honor to receive this award,” said Rep. Armstrong. “I greatly respect WEDA and its mission, and it’s always a pleasure to work with them to improve Wisconsin’s business climate, which is essential for strengthening communities and families.”

Rep. Armstrong was first elected to the Wisconsin Assembly in 2020. He currently serves as chairman of the Assembly Small Business Development Committee and as a member of several other key committees, including the Housing, Workforce Development, and Rural Development committees. He represents the 67th Assembly District, which includes all of Barron County and portions of Chippewa and Dunn counties, including the cities of Barron and Rice Lake.

The Wisconsin Economic Development Association, founded in 1975, is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to growing Wisconsin’s economy. Driven by the needs of its members, WEDA represents the economic development interests of both the private and public sectors through professional development, best practices, and advocacy.
