Grants Awarded by the Department of Justice to the Birchwood and Winter School Districts
MADISON -- Representative James Edming (R-Glen Flora) congratulated two school districts serving students in the 87thAssembly District on being awarded a School Safety Grant from the Department of Justice (DOJ). This week, the DOJ announced that the Birchwood School District will be receiving $75,878 and the Winter School District will be receiving $62,385.
“I am pleased to see two area school districts receive School Safety Grants,” said Rep. Edming. “These grants will give the Birchwood and Winter School Districts necessary resources to make their schools safer for their students, teachers, and staff.”
The $100 million School Safety Grant Award Program was created by 2017 Act 143 and is being administered by the Office of School Safety at the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Over $6 million has already been awarded to school districts around the state with more grants expected to be awarded soon.
“I am proud to have backed the legislation that created this grant program earlier this year,” said Rep. Edming.“I hope to see more schools in the 87th Assembly District awarded funding in future rounds of grants.”
