Rep. Edming Recognized As Legislator Of The Year By Wisconsin VFW

Press Release

MADISON – On Friday, Representative James Edming (R-Glen Flora) was recognized by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) – Department of Wisconsin as their “Legislator of the Year” during their organization’s annual convention.

“I am truly honored to receive this prestigious award,” said Rep. Edming. “Those who serve our nation in the armed forces make many sacrifices to protect the freedoms we all hold dear. I am proud to be an advocate for our veterans in the legislature and I am committed to continuing to advance policies to make our state better for those who served our nation.”

The award was presented to Rep. Edming for his support and advocacy for a number of pieces of legislation supporting veterans. This session Rep Edming has lead the effort in the Assembly to expand the eligibility for the Disabled Veterans and Surviving Spouses Property Tax Credit to more of our deserving disabled veterans, increase funding for our state’s county veteran service officers, and to eliminate the state income tax on active duty military pay.

“The VFW-Department of Wisconsin was pleased to recognize and thank Representative James “Jimmy Boy” Edming as our 2020-2021 Legislator of the Year at our 100th state convention,” said State Commander Jason Johns. “Jimmy Boy has been a champion for numerous pieces of veterans legislation including being the lead Assembly author for our #1 priority, AB 245, which reduces the eligibility threshold to claim the veterans and surviving spouses property tax credit. We look forward to having Rep. Edming by our side as we continue our fight in the legislature to assure this bill is signed into law.”

The 87th Assembly District includes portions of Clark, Marathon, Rusk, Sawyer and Taylor Counties. Picture included with email.
