MADISON, WI -- Representative Chanz Green (R-Grand View) is appalled by the financial catastrophe caused by Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) and how it affects the schools in the 74th district.
“Gathering all the information over the past few weeks when it comes to Milwaukee Public Schools has been a whirlwind,” said Rep. Green. “The fact that MPS will affect the schools in my district to the tune of over $403,000 is appalling. This all stems from the failed leadership of MPS and the Department of Instruction (DPI).”
As a result of the MPS referendum, the following school districts will see reductions in annual aid:
“The MPS just doesn’t affect Milwaukee; it affects every student in the state,” said Rep. Green. “There needs to be accountability. That starts within MPS and extends to DPI and Governor Evers. With that being said, I don’t agree with the governor on hiring an outside firm to audit MPS. For me to have transparency and accountability, the audit should be done by the non-partisan and independent Legislative Audit Bureau.”
