MADISON, WI -- Representative Chanz Green (R-Grand View) voted in favor of a package of bills that would expand child care, which is aimed at helping families afford childcare and increasing accessibility across our state.
“I have gotten a lot of emails and calls from my constituents to invest in child care," said Rep. Green. "These bills will expand access to child care while making sure that child care is affordable for families across the state.”
This child care package includes legislation that would create a childcare reimbursement account, establish a revolving loan fund to help renovate current care centers and help new centers open, create a new classification of in-home childcare centers, boost capacity, and bring provider regulations in line with other states.
“What Governor Evers wanted to do with the child care counts program would be unsustainable, as he would have replaced federal COVID pandemic funding with $360 million in state tax dollars," said Rep. Green. "This package and the investments made in the state budget actually provide pin-point relief to the child care crisis in Wisconsin, and I was proud to vote this package through the Assembly.”
This package now heads to the Senate for consideration.
Rep. Green also voted in favor of Assembly Bill 415, a redistricting bill based on the model used in Iowa. This bill would create a nonpartisan redistricting commission to draw the legislative maps.
