Rep. Green: Wisconsin Tourism Keeps Breaking Records

Madison, WI – Representative Chanz Green (R-Grand View) issued the following statement after seeing the Wisconsin Department of Tourism have another record-breaking year in 2024:

“As Chair of the Assembly Committee on Tourism, I am ecstatic to see this industry continue to thrive. Not only does it benefit Northern Wisconsin, but it also has lasting, positive impacts across the entire state.

The Department of Tourism is one of the few state agencies with clearly defined goals and a proven return on investment. I commend Secretary Sayers for her outstanding work!

That’s why I have submitted and supported key budget motions to ensure this vital industry remains strong in the upcoming state budget.”

Rep. Green has submitted/supported the following budget motions relating to tourism:

  • Adding $1.2 million in one-time funds for tourism marketing, beyond the governor’s initial total request.
  • Making the two positions at the Office of Group Travel non-permanent full-time employees.
  • Making three Office of Outdoor Recreation positions permanent.

“These investments will keep Wisconsin a top destination for travelers and boost our local economies. I look forward to seeing how these efforts will continue to grow our tourism industry even further and deliver strong returns for years to come.”

The breakdown of how much each county generated because of tourism can be seen here.
