MADISON – Representative Gae Magnafici (R-Dresser) released the following statement following Governor Evers’ budget address before the state legislature on Thursday evening:
“In his first budget as governor, Evers has missed a great opportunity to move Wisconsin forward in a bipartisan manner,” said Rep. Magnafici. “The Governor’s first months in office have been marked by vetoing a middle class tax cut and speaking out against a bill that would protect insurance coverage for people with preexisting conditions.
“Now, as Republicans continue to work toward bipartisan solutions, the Governor has proposed a budget that will require money that the state of Wisconsin does not have, money that will ultimately come out of the Wisconsin taxpayers’ pockets.
“I will be planning a number of listening sessions across my district in the coming weeks, and I hope to hear from constituents on their thoughts about Governor Evers’ proposals.
Following the Governor’s budget address, the budget now heads to the state legislature for its review and input.
