Rep. Magnafici Votes To Override Gov’s Veto

Press Release

MADISON, WI -- Rep. Magnafici (R – Dresser) issued the following statement regarding her vote to override Governor Evers’ veto:

“Now hiring signs are hanging in windows across the state. Main Street businesses are scaling back hours due to a lack of staff. Businesses are competing with government handouts.

Today I am voting to override Governor Evers’ veto of AB 336, which ends the bonus handout for being unemployed. It’s time to return to work. National polls found only 38% of the public support giving unemployed people an extra $300 per week.

To distract from the unemployment crisis and prevent the public from learning about Republican’s veto override, Gov. Evers called for a legislative special session requesting more money for schools. Republicans made a historic investment in education in the budget passed earlier this month. Make no mistake; this is an unnecessary political stunt by Gov. Evers.”
