Press Release
MADISON, WI -- State Representative Robin Vos (R-Rochester) is sending care packages to troops deployed overseas as part of the Wisconsin Assembly Republican caucus’ Operation We Love Our Troops. Assembly Republicans will ship a total of just over 2,600 items, weighing approximately 1,000 pounds, in 102 boxes to Wisconsin military units deployed overseas. The packages from Speaker Vos will be delivered to a Wisconsin Army Reserve unit deployed in the Middle East.
“We wanted to do something special for the men and women serving overseas, so we launched Operation We Love Our Troops,” Rep. Vos said. “We appreciate the sacrifices our soldiers are making and hope these care packages bring them some of the comforts of home.”
Rep. Vos donated a variety of personal hygiene and non-perishable food items that may be difficult for soldiers to obtain during deployment. Also included in the boxes are letters from 4th graders at St. John’s Lutheran School in Racine.
“To all those serving abroad, we hope you come home safe and come home soon,” Rep. Vos said. “We can never thank you enough for your service to our nation, but know we are thankful for your service and appreciate your dedication to protecting freedom.”
This first of its kind effort by the Assembly Republican caucus was delayed by several months due to the COVID-19 outbreak. All the boxes will be shipped out to troops over the next several weeks.
