DOUGLAS COUNTY — A Douglas County man with multiple prior drunken driving convictions has been sentenced nearly six years after he was arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
David L. Pederson, 55, of Barnes, WI, was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, 5th offense, following a July 2020 traffic stop, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol Spooner Post.
Criminal charges were subsequently filed in Douglas County Circuit Court, and after numerous hearings and the issuance of several arrest warrants for Pederson’s failure to appear for scheduled court hearings, he appeared most recently on June 15, 2026, and was sentenced for OWI 5th Offense.
The Hon. Judge George Glonek ordered Pederson to serve 1 year and 6 months of initial incarceration, followed by 2 years of extended supervision, with credit for 247 days already served. Conditions of his sentence require him to undergo an alcohol and other drug assessment and pay over $3,000 in court costs, assessments, and fees.

On 07-16-20, at approximately 5:40 a.m., a WI State Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle for the driver operating without wearing their seatbelt. The driver was identified as David L. Pederson and showed signs of impairment.
A subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety testing, showed that Mr. Pederson was operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with this being his 5th offense.
Mr. Pederson was arrested and transported to a local hospital for an evidentiary chemical test of his blood and then to the Douglas County Jail.
He is being charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated 5th offense and operating while revoked.
