MADISON, WI -- Earlier this month, Representative Angie Sapik, along with other area legislators, had requested Governor Tony Evers to make an emergency declaration to help the numerous snow-related businesses significantly impacted by the dry winter in Wisconsin's "snow belt" region. As a result of these efforts, the Small Business Administration (SBA) has recently confirmed that federal disaster coverage extends to Wisconsin businesses impacted by a lack of snow.
"This is vital aid and it is great to hear that the SBA has approved an economic disaster area for Northwestern Wisconsin," said Representative Sapik. "This is a significant step towards supporting the many businesses in our region affected by the dry winter.”
The SBA's disaster loans with no interest for the first year and a maximum interest rate of 4% for the remainder of the loan will provide much-needed relief to these businesses. Representative Sapik encourages all businesses impacted by the dry winter to log on to the SBA website, call the SBA service center at (800) 659-2955, or send an email to disastercustomerservice@sba.gov to find out more about disaster assistance.
